- Unit 7 Essential Question:
- What is a community?
- In this unit, students read and compare selections about different types of communities to understand what a community is.
- This Week's focus:
- This week we are learning about the unit theme: Communities, Then and Now. We are looking at Authors Purpose and connecting sources about other communities (past or present) to our own community.
- Writing:
- We are starting opinion writing. This week we are just being introduced to parts of an opinion paragraph. They will be learning about forming an opinion and having evidence to support their opinion.
- Don't forget to check out the "Choose your own adventure" slides they made on Google Classroom!
- It is a narrative, but the reader can choose which direction the story the story takes. This includes skills such as creating a character and setting, coming up with multiple plot lines, and linking Google Slides.
- We are continuing Unit 6 - geometry! We will be learning about polygons and their attributes. We are looking at sides, vertices, and angles to determine the polygon. We will also be continuing to practice perimeter and area.
- This week's main focus: We are learning the names of different types of polygons and how to identify and sort polygons based on their attributes. We are also doing some extra SBAC practice and review!
